TuneController is a modular plugin-based Qt interface for talking to media players such as iTunes, XMMS, and WinAmp. The provided functionality is currently limited to notifying of player state and song changes, but other features (such as remote controlling, queueing, …) will be added in the future.
The goal of this interface is to use it in Psi for the implementation of JEP-0118 (User Tune) once the SPPS JEP and its server implementations are ready.
Hey, I didn’t know that. I’m liking this planet thing.
Very cool, I do sometimes miss the user tune functionality I had with a Trillian plugin lon ago.
Just to prove that it works, I hacked Psi to publish my currently playing tune in my status message, which took me about half an hour. However, changing presence every 3 minutes is so evil that i’m going to burn the patch now ! (Now where did i put those mathes ?)
Dude, where’s the amaroK plugin?
I promise amaroK is on the top of my list for TuneController, and i’ll look at it when I find a little bit of spare time. Right now, I just wanted to reap what I sowed by putting the library to action to do some User Tune publishing using PubSub. More on that will most probably follow soon on this very same blog
and what about Foobar2000?
Thats best player for win !
